First sock

Hello,

Well, I decided to “stick my courage to the sticking place” I love that phrase it comes from a Shakespeare play Macbeth or Antony and Cleopatra, anyway so today I was brave and learned how to do long tail cast on, thanks Knitting Help website.  And cast on, after doing a few sums (Math, to any Australian/American viewers) and started my first ever sock this morning.  How pleased am I with my little self?  I am using the Yarn Harlot’s sock recipe from “Knitting Rules”and also Ann Bud’s book “Getting Started knitting Socks” and bearing in mind I have done an 8 hour shift today, this is what I’ve done so far.

First sock, ta daaa!

First sock, ta daaa!

Picture was taken on Photo Booth so not brilliant quality.  But never mind that, how quick do these babies grow?  I reckon I’m nearly ready to do inaugural turning of the heel thingy tomorrow. I feel clever, I does.

The weird thing was when I was on my meal break knitting them I was  asked several times whether they are for adults or children :0  and as I have tried them on to see where they sit and if they are too tight or loose I would definitely think they were for an adult of adult proportions.  Anyhoo…

Happy knitting
